I will slowly ease into reading the channeled information. I still have many other non-fiction books I will probably read at the same time, a few pages per day of this book and then a few pages from another book. I have learned that if I keep reading only one book until I have finished reading it all I tend to get bored and drowsy while reading it, so I often read more than one at a time. E.g., I finally finished the 800-page tome War in Human Civilization by Azar Gat. My current book is a biography of Jack Welch, the late CEO of General Electric (GE), which he turned into the most valuable business entity in the world. He was a dark pather for sure. He set the gold standard for all other CEOs of all businesses on how to pump up the stock price of one's company's stock, and thus make the company "more valuable" while simultaneously devaluing all the employees by firing however many it took to pump up the stock price a few more percentage points. The book's full title is "The Man Who Broke Capitalism: How Jack Welch Gutted the Heartland and Crushed the Soul of Corporate America – and How to Undo His Legacy". Welch also ruined GE in the process.

My next reading material will be by Michael Roads. :-)

Thanks. I read Gat's sequel, which reiterated his arguments.

I also read his ideological fixation book:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61063535-ideological-fixation

But he got in over his head, IMO, with an amateurish take on Noam and Ed's work and other issues. In the end, Gat is an imperial apologist, which is normal for people like him.

But he deserves credit for articulating the root of all violence: the compulsion to survive and reproduce in a world of scarcity:

https://ahealedplanet.net/preview.htm#violence

And how violence and warfare have declined over the Epochs.

Ah, Welch. I have a Welch anecdote. At the software company that I worked at for a decade, one of the CEOs worked for Welch. Welch got around by helicopter a lot. My CEO took a ride with Welch in his helicopter. I have only ridden in a helicopter once:

https://ahealedplanet.net/forum/threads/81-Vignettes-from-my-journey-and-how-I-learned-what-I-did-and-came-to-my-approach/page4?p=1841&viewfull=1#post1841

When I did, it was a bit of a production, with instructions of what to stay away from, and wearing headphones and a pretty gnarly seat belt. Anyway, when my CEO rode with Welch, he followed protocol, but Welch did not wear his seat belt! He asked Welch about it, who replied with, "If this helicopter goes down, the seat belt will not matter." :)

At that software company, I did the SEC reporting, and specialized in reporting for 15 years of my career. During those days, Welch became infamous for his games to smooth the earnings, with what are called "cookie jars" and other techniques. Basically, he would build up his cookie jars on good quarters and lean them out on bad quarters, to make earnings look consistent. Bernie Madoff had similar smooth earnings for his companies, but they were wholly fictitious, unlike Welch's partly fictitious earnings at GE. Of course, GE was Edison's company, so it has dark roots to begin with, but what else is new in corporate America? :)

I often read many books at once (far easier to do on my Kindle), but for a lot of them, I will read them straight through, either books of fiction or something that is important enough to me. I have nearly 30 books to report on since I began working on my most recent essay in December. I have several hundred books on my Kindle right now. I will never get through my library, but that is a good thing, as I will never get to the top of that mountain. If I ever did, then what? :)

When your bucketful of books to read gets empty, then it is time either to refill the bucket or get a larger bucket. :-)

Wade, you wrote "the ideals of democracy, a free press, free markets, and an objective history have never been achieved." I would expand this concept to say that nothing that any human has ever done to try to achieve any kind of ideal anything has ever worked and never will. The four ideals you mentioned have been tried, at least on paper, in many nations throughout history, but there has always been at least one "unenlightened" person with enough power to undermine the theoretical concept and realize financial or power gain from undermining it. The Soviet Union had a Constitution which the powerful few ignored. A free press and free market could exist if there were any perfect people to be in charge, but, alas, every one of us must eat, food costs money, and after a perfect thinker builds a free press business he must receive money from somewhere with which to buy food. His press's readers will probably all be non-idealistic enough to let him starve rather than suffer themselves by going in debt to keep his press alive. Financial pressure works on us all to make us shave the corners off of all of our perfect, idealistic desires.

Anything which is perfect will have to be forced upon humanity by non-humans who are not subject to any of our human weaknesses. Conspiracies of one or more will always exist until something happens to all humans' thinking to make us all accept the concept that no one, and not even I, can ever think perfectly about what to do next.

Thanks Bill. In the Michael teachings:

https://ahealedplanet.net/spirit.htm#michael

nothing perfectly reflects the godhead, and that is intentional, as our journeys from the godhead and back increase what Creation is. So, nothing ever attains its ideal outside the godhead, especially in physical reality. But the game, as I understand it, is to attempt to, and the important growth is in the attempt. With our rising energy surplus, societies have become more humane, because they could afford to be:

In the Fifth Epoch, we will come far closer to those ideals than at present, there will be new ideals to pursue, and it will even be fun. :)

I am about to embark upon reading through the channeled teachings you have mentioned of Michael, Michael Roads (same person?), Ra, and Seth. I have avoided doing this for several decades because I was learning enough from your other writings that I didn't feel it necessary, and also because I felt uneasy about reading something that had been "channeled." It would ease my doubts if you could briefly explain what "channeled" means. I have also read through all the available online entries on the Near Death Experiences website and did not feel uneasy about doing that.

Hi Bill:

Michael Roads is a real person who is very psychic:

https://ahealedplanet.net/visions.htm#roads

Michael is a channeled entity:

https://ahealedplanet.net/spirit.htm#michael

When the term "channeled" came into vogue in the 1980s with Shirley MacLaine and the New Age, I disliked the term., but I have learned to live with it. It used to be called mediumship.

Mediums or channelers are able to mentally communicate with discarnate and other entities. It is that simple. Creation is a big place, so discarnate entities can be your deceased relatives, Jesus, angels, higher-level entities (Michael is called a mid-causal entity, comprised of over 1,000 souls that lived more than 100,000 lifetimes on Earth), and even physical beings can be channeled, such as ETs in other star systems. Channeling itself has a wide range of expression. It can come through automatic writing or Ouija boards. Some channels are fully conscious as they channel, while most are in a sleep-like trance and are only vaguely aware of what comes through when they channel, while others are called "full-body" channels who "become" who they channel, and usually have no conscious recollection at all about what happened when they channeled. It is a very diverse phenomenon.

I have always recommended that people have their mystical awakenings before they study mystical literature, as it opens up mental faculties that are rare in the West, especially in white male professionals. :) Without my mystical awakening:

https://ahealedplanet.net/spirit.htm#silva

I doubt that I would have ever studied mystical material, or that it would have meant much to me. A mystical awakening was critical for my journey, as it was Brian O'Leary's.

You likely won't get that awakening in this lifetime unless you have an NDE, so I don't know how that will go for you, but you have always been open-minded. I have had extraordinary encounters with channeled beings:

https://ahealedplanet.net/spirit.htm#meetseth

So I know that they are not figments of the channelers' imaginations. But nobody should take every channeled word as gospel, and the channels themselves caution against that. There is channeling distortion and other issues, and yes, some are frauds or are channeling negatively-oriented entities. It is a huge topic. Have fun with it. I'll be here if you want to discuss.

Conspiracism is a simplicistic approach to the world's issues. On that score, Noam is right. You are not the first conspiracist who has stumbled onto my site, and you won't be the last, alas. The conspiracist stuff is at cross-purposes with what I am doing. Sorry. I am trying to get something done, not engage in idle chatter with armchair conspiracists who also hurl insults.
