We were all lied to when growing up on many, or even possibly ALL topics, by our elders, our educational system, our peers, and all facets of our governments. Some of us come to understand this is happening, and we become more careful of what we allow ourselves to believe and, even in extreme cases, create in ourselves a new habit of diligently researching the origin of any new saying, belief, or human habit about which we learn. Then we begin learning possibly the most difficult habit of them all - to keep our mouths shut about what we have learned and now believe.
That gave me my morning's laugh. Thanks. Yes, the herd wants to remain in undisturbed slumber, even marching over that cliff is preferable to awakening, and I had to witness that several times before I began to understand. At least they don't burn heretics at the stake any longer. This is progress, of a sort.
